It was one of our first coffees we created all those years ago and as a coffee it has evolved over time to be a trusted favorite amongst our regular loyal customers - it remains a sentimental and personal coffee that we are both satisfied and proud to offer.
Barista is a seasonal coffee which means the profile of the coffee will vary slightly over 3-4 month periods as we apply blending formulas that utilize our best options each season, e.g. if we are really enjoying a bean, such as PNG Highlands AA, or the superb Elk Hill, we will engineer these great beans into the Barista blend so that it continues to out-perform the coffees offered by others.
This coffee won a Bronze Medal at the Golden Bean in December 2011 for Milk-Based Espresso - it's a classic "dark horse" that delights and surprises.
Acidity: Medium tending to high for milk
Body: Medium
Aroma: Fruit notes with hints of cocoa
Flavour: Superbly clean cup - balanced caramel, raisin and a chocolate finish
Roaster's Notes
Barista started out as an espresso-focused blend, heavy with Brazil, Sumatrans and Ethiopian beans.
Ironically, this was a classic Italian-style and we found the Australian palate prefered some brighter notes and a sweeter finish in milk.
I really enjoy roasting Barista as the blend contains 5 different beans consisting of washed, naturally pulped and a sundried.
This coffee has something for everyone - it is designed to appeal to the general majority of coffee drinkers.
Barista is a highly versatile blend - working across various brew methods with ease - for this reason we will always recommend this coffee to people wanting to try our coffee for the very first time.
