Grand Cru Coffee Beans
We enjoy a distinct advantage by holding one of Australia's largest range of fresh coffees - from every growing origin (with a few minor exceptions). And we now have what we refer to as our Grand Cru coffee range.
At times, we hold more coffees than Tier 2 and Tier 3 raw coffee brokers.
Coffee has many similarities to the wine industry - from the soil and climate of growing conditions, how the farmer manages their crop, processing of the product and then coffee roasters can face similar challenges to a winemaker - creating products with the best available quality or specific target outcomes.
Roasting coffee forces you to constantly review the performance of our coffees. Sometimes, there are beans that have proved fabulously popular amongst our customers or a coffee bean may elicit many memorable moments.
What does it take to make the Grand Cru list ?
Whilst we have our Reserve and Limited Estate coffees that represent unique or high quality examples of an origin or specific bean type, our Grand Cru coffee beans have been selected not because they are hyped up by judges or experts and not because they might have a particular academic (or what we may refer to as highly subjective) technical point score.
Grand Cru coffee bean candidates are selected based on a really simple criteria - performance and feedback from the most important judges - our customers.
