Blended Organic Coffee
Order our seasonal medium roast ORGANIC coffee beans here.
This organic coffee blend has been designed to suit many brewing styles - espresso, plunger, filter, etc.
When blending this 100% Arabica coffee, we used combination of imported raw/green Organic coffees (fresh roasted in Melbourne).
As a seasonal product, the blend components vary throughout the year due to the coffee growing origins have different crop and harvest times.
We only source freshly arrived raw/green coffees and use these in expertly blended harmony to create a smooth, rich and rewarding cup of coffee.
All our coffees are specialty grade min. scoring 82 points or higher and at various times of the year we tend to source from origins such as PNG, Central and Southern American estates - all quality assured by Australian-based import brokers.
Some people have told us they have tasted Organic coffee from other suppliers and not enjoyed the experience.
We believe this coffee has exceptional flavour and the Organic processing methods have not subtracted from generating a high quality outcome.
Organic beans may appear inconsistent in screen size (screen size refers to the physical dimensions and shape) - variable screen size is a natural character of all coffees and tends to be a feature of organic lots due to no fertilizers being used to artifically stimulate the growing stages.
No pesticides or synthetic fertilizers have been used in the growing or processing of these coffee beans.
As all of our green/raw coffee are imported - that is, they are grown, harvested, processed (not roasted, this is done by us here in Melbourne) and packed overseas, the Organic certifications are by either the NASAA or USDA Organic - sometimes it may be Bio Latino if it's from some origins within Central or South America, e.g. Peru, Honduras, Colombia, etc. It varies from lot to lot as we purchase around 14 different Organic lots in any calendar year.
It's important to PLEASE NOTE the following statement:-
This coffee is not certified by the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) association - we are not a member of the ACO, nor are we using any trademarks or materials from the ACO.
As the raw/green coffee is imported (which happens to be more than 99.5% of the coffee roasted and consumed in Australia - by volume, all imported), as such, it does not use the ACO logo because we do not participate in that licensing program - which requires additional license fees, administration and overheads in exchange for the right to use the logo.
We only purchase certified raw coffees from quality endorsed, local Australian-based coffee brokers - brokers that we have enjoyed long standing, multi-year relationships built upon trust and performance - we do not spot buy imported raw/green coffees from untested brokers, nor do we try to bypass the export and import brokers by attempting to save money dealing with farmers directly.
The long term security and reputation of our business is something we are not prepared to risk with random sellers. There have been far too many scandals in the Organic industry (within coffee and also across every other food ingredient).
You can buy safely from mycuppa.
(ORG1000)
Organic coffees can vary considerably between lots.
We also see some variances within lots as the coffee has been grown and harvested without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, the beans may have a broader range of shape, dimension and finish - this is natural.
Our holdings of Organic raw coffees are around 3 - 4 tons at any time - comprising of NASAA, USDA Organic and FAIRTRADE Organic certified lots.
This is a blended product and we take our best lots to create what we think is going to deliver a superior cup across the popular brew methods.
