Premium Single Origin Coffee Beans

(31 products)

myCuppa was one of the first Australian roasters to sell premium single origin coffee beans online, starting back in 2007. Today we roast coffees from more than 20 origins. Each is chosen to show the true character of where it was grown, from chocolatey Colombians and PNGs to bright, fruity Ethiopians and Kenyans.

Every single origin is roasted fresh in Melbourne on weekday mornings and shipped the same afternoon, as whole beans or ground to suit your brewing method.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is premium single origin coffee?

Premium single origin coffee comes from one country, region, estate or producer rather than being blended with coffees from multiple origins.

This allows the distinctive character of the coffee to remain more visible, including its natural sweetness, acidity, body and regional flavour profile.

How do I choose the right single origin coffee?

Choose according to the way you brew and the flavours you enjoy.

Customers who prefer chocolate, caramel and nutty flavours may enjoy coffees from origins such as Colombia, Brazil or Papua New Guinea. Those seeking brighter fruit, floral notes or more complexity may prefer coffees from Ethiopia, Kenya or other high-altitude regions.

Are single origin coffees suitable for espresso?

Yes. Many single origin coffees can produce excellent espresso when the roast profile and brewing settings are correctly matched.

Some origins deliver a smooth, balanced espresso with good body, while others produce a brighter and more distinctive cup. Small adjustments to grind size, dose and extraction time may be required when changing between coffees.

Can I use premium single origin coffee for filter brewing?

Yes. Single origin coffees are especially well suited to filter methods because these brewing styles can highlight the coffee’s individual aroma, sweetness and regional character.

Select a filter roast where available, or choose a coffee with the flavour profile and roast style best suited to your preferred brewing method.

Why do some single origin coffees change or become unavailable?

Single origin coffees are agricultural products, so availability can change according to harvest timing, crop quality, seasonal supply and importer availability.

We may replace one lot with another from the same region or introduce a different origin when a particular coffee is no longer available. This allows us to maintain quality rather than keeping a coffee in the range when the available crop no longer meets our standards.

Explore Single Origin Coffee by Region

A blend combines coffees from several countries. A single origin comes from one country, region or estate, so the coffee’s natural character comes through clearly in the cup. Single origins are a chance to taste how much difference place makes: the same roaster and the same machine can produce completely different flavours.

Our single origins are carefully selected and roasted fresh in Melbourne. The range includes easy-drinking, balanced coffees for every day, plus brighter, more complex lots for the adventurous.

What Makes Single Origin Coffee Different?

Long before coffee reaches the roaster, its flavour is shaped by altitude, climate, soil, variety, and how the cherries are harvested and processed. That’s why each growing region has its own recognisable style:

  • Colombia: balanced sweetness with caramel, chocolate and gentle fruit.
  • Ethiopia: floral aromas, citrus and berries. Often the most vibrant coffees on the shelf.
  • Kenya: intense, juicy and clear, with lively fruit character.
  • Papua New Guinea: generous body and sweetness, great with milk.
  • Sumatra and Sulawesi: full-bodied and earthy, with deep chocolate and spice.

Because single origins are seasonal, individual lots come and go through the year. When one runs out, we replace it with a new harvest or another origin we’re excited about, so there’s always something new to try.

Single Origin Coffee for Espresso

Single origins make excellent espresso, though they may need a little more dialling in than a house blend. Each coffee has a different density and roast development, so expect small grinder or dose adjustments when you switch between origins.

For milk drinks, choose a coffee with plenty of body, such as PNG, Brazil or Sumatra, so the flavour holds up in a flat white or latte. For espresso or long blacks, brighter origins like Ethiopia and Kenya really shine.

Single Origin Coffee for Filter Brewing

Filter methods like pour-over, AeroPress and batch brew are the best way to taste the full detail of a single origin. Without milk, subtle aromas, sweetness and fruit notes come through clearly.

For the brightest, most aromatic cup, try our light roast filter coffees, roasted specifically for filter brewing. Our espresso-roasted single origins also work well as filter, giving a fuller, rounder cup.
