Since the beginning of the pandemic, organic Colombian coffee beans have continued to be challenging for sourcing. A complete shutdown of all transportation inside of Colombia in mid 2021 caused incredible problems to supply chains and in 2023 it's still yet to recover back to normal. This applies to all Colombian coffees, not just the organic coffee beans.
So severe have these transport problems it has caused a constant level of shortages in Colombian coffees.
The La Nina weather pattern has also not been kind to Colombia with persistent heavy rains.
Heavy rains hamper the growing, harvesting and processing of coffees. It also affects transportation of coffees as roads to high elevated areas are washed out.
With all these factors contributing to push up the prices of Colombian coffees to levels that we have not seen in 20 years.
We know Colombian coffees are special and despite the high prices being asked, they are worth it.
