Our quality decaf won Bronze at the Royal Sydney Coffee Awards in 2017 and 2016.
Of course, you are probably wondering what about the Silver and the Gold medals.
Well, quite frankly so are we because we know our Decaf is a giant killer. Judges look for certain things on the day of competition and maybe ours was just too "classic" - who knows.
One thing we do know is that we roast so much Decaf compared to other coffee companies - our Decaf flies out the door so damn fast we can't keep up.
It's roasted every day. Most coffee companies barely roast Decaf once a week or fortnight. We have to roast it every day as we sell so much of it - customers can each buy 8 or 10 packs at a time.
What your are buying here is 1x 500g of 100% Arabica certified Swiss Water Process (SWP) whole bean medium roasted coffee - excellent for Espresso style, plunger, stovetop and even filter coffees. (Note - photo depicts 2x bags, but this is new packaging and we don't have much artwork at the moment).
This is, without doubt, the best Colombian decaf you can buy - we have a reputation of producing some of the best roasted decaf in Australia - it's a big statement, but we know we can back it up.
This coffee is authentic chemical-free Swiss Water Process De-Caffinated coffee.
The caffiene is extracted using a patented process that retains all the flavours of coffee - this occurs in a quality-controlled facility in Canada and the raw coffee minus the caffeine is shipped to us in Australia via our trusted broker.
Without doubt the absolute best tasting Decaf on the market - a premium bean sourced coffee from one of the best farms in Colombia - rich, smooth, creamy with the full chocolate finish.
Important features to be aware of with roasted Decaf coffees:
Decaf coffees are significantly darker in the green bean state when compared to traditional coffee beans. That means, we are starting from a much darker shade for the raw coffee - the result is a darker shade in the physical roasted product and it will develop a light sheen of oil on the surface of the bean.
Don't worry or be alarmed, it's not over-roasted.
Once roasted, Decaf coffees appear very dark (almost black) and will emit a sheen of oil as early as 1-3 days after roasting - it's just a normal, natural cycle of roasted Decaf due to the process that removes the caffeine.
Most coffee roasters struggle to roast decaf as they don't do it very often as it's a raw bean that is darker with radically different moisture and density compared to traditional raw coffees.
For this reason. most roasting companies end up over-roasting their decaf making it bitter and ashy because they do it the same way that non-Decaf coffees are roasted - which is so very wrong !.
Our roasting equipment has finer control of air and temperature enabling us to produce a wonderfully soft heat that really suits the decaf roasting process.
NOTE: we reserve the right to change our coffee bag packaging without notice. Coffees are fresh roasted daily and shipped that afternoon (or next day if we have run out of fresh roasted coffee beans). At times throughout the year, we may experience a shortage for our custom manufactured coffee bags (the bags shown in the picture), These high quality coffee bags are specially manufactured for us and sometimes there are delays in the supplier shipping to us. This does not affect the quality of the coffee beans.
The Swiss Water Decaf company is based in Canada and they operate one of the largest coffee processing plants in the world - their premises are much larger than the biggest sporting arenas.
Swiss Water is a patented process of caffeine removal without the use of dangerous or harsh chemicals.
The Swiss Water Decaf company have some of the world's best expert raw coffee buyers that travel the world evaluating and selecting the best grades of coffee that are then shipped to Canada for processing.
The end product is a raw coffee with around 99% of the caffeine removed in a form that can be fresh roasted by coffee companies to the desired taste and cup profile.
Many coffee roasters hate having to roast Decaf because it's tricky. But I love it......the smell of fresh roasted decaf beats anything........
We roast decaf many times each week - sometimes it's hard to keep up as we have such a big list of Decaf customers.
Please kindly note, roasted Decaf beans will turn oily very quickly - sometimes just a few days. If they are exposed to higher ambient temperatures in transit of storage they will oil up faster.
The oil is nothing to worry about and will not detract from the performance of the coffee.
I always suggest to customers to use decaf within a reasonably short timeframe as it does not seem to age with the same durability as non-decaf coffees.
Fantastic20 June 2018Was a bit worried about switching to decaf but these beans make me wish I’d done it sooner! Great cup of coffee. The service was superb too.
