This month, that coffee is West Java Exotika Natural — a rare, sweet and intensely fruity single origin from West Java, Indonesia.

For many coffee drinkers, Indonesian coffees are often associated with big body, earthy complexity, deep chocolate tones and a heavy, satisfying cup. Those coffees certainly have their place, and we have many customers who love that classic Indonesian style.

But West Java Exotika Natural is something quite different.

This coffee is clean, vibrant and fruit-driven, with a complex cup profile showing notes of strawberry, plum, toffee and chocolate. It has a rich, syrupy body, delicious citrus acidity, full flavour and a long, sweet finish.

It is still unmistakably satisfying, but it takes Indonesian coffee in a more exotic and expressive direction.

A Natural Coffee with Serious Fruit Character

West Java Exotika Natural is a natural-processed coffee, which means the coffee cherry is dried with the fruit still surrounding the seed. When done well, this process can intensify sweetness, fruit character and aromatic complexity.

That is exactly what we found in this coffee.

The fruit notes are not vague or hidden. They are right there in the cup — sweet, rounded and delicious. Strawberry and plum give the coffee a bright, juicy character, while toffee and chocolate add depth, balance and richness.
