myCuppa August 2024 Newsletter
Welcome.
We wanted to thank all the lovely customers who are giving a "thumbs up" on the new mycuppa store. Over time, we hope that more of the benefits from the new system make ordering simpler and faster, particularly the advanced, high-speed checkout.
However, the checkout is where one big issue is occurring with alarming frequency – with incidents up 800+%.
Customers are entering or selecting the wrong shipping address.
Customers with old or outdated addresses stored in their payment methods, such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal, are the primary reason for these incidents. These addresses reside outside our system.
The industry trend for modern checkouts is moving fast to adopt "keyless" transactions, just like a tap and go.
Please double-check addresses to avoid the risks of shipping delays, failed deliveries or extra re-shipping costs.
Our coffee product labelling will progressively change to include QR codes instead of written taste descriptors.
Keeping label printers, software apps, and our online store synchronized accurately has always been a battle.
With coffee changing every few months, this move will help reduce the risk of an older version of a label accidentally appearing on a coffee pack.
September 2024 Secret Label
This month's Secret Label is a return to the days when coffee had the classic taste of nuts, chocolate and caramel with rich toffee.
We love how this retro-styled coffee, crafted in the genre of bold flavours, can hit the spot.

What's floating my coffee boat this month ?
The new crop in Rwanda is now roasting, and it's entirely different from last season. Think dark fruits exploding in the cup for a distinct and unique experience. Grab it today.
Centre Way blend has undergone an entire rebuild. A recent Secret Label was so successful that we just had to keep the magic going. Delicious with a capital D.
New season Ethiopians are in the transition phase for release into production, with Yirgacheffe complete, Sidamo next week and Harrar at the end of the month. Ethiopians were a few months late due to ongoing difficulties in global shipping.
Gone but not forgotten
With global coffee prices at an all-time high, it's disappointing that cup quality has dropped as farmers lose interest in putting in extra effort to fetch higher pricing – coffee sells itself at the moment, regardless of taste.Bad weather has also affected growing conditions, resulting in smaller harvests of lower quality.
There's too much ordinary coffee moving through supply chains as coffee brands need help to hold onto margins, pivoting to the cheapest coffees and dragging down the demand for quality.
We are not saying that no great coffees are available – they still exist, just that the majority of the holdings in warehouses are on the lower quality side to feed an extraordinarily high demand for "price-constrained" coffees.
We will discuss that story next month as we clarify why coffee in 2024 tastes much worse than in previous years.
Some origins are harder to source than others.
It's always been the same story, but this year, we see extreme difficulties, and quite frankly, if we are paying such high prices, the taste should be there, but in most cases, it's not.
So, we are pruning our portfolio as we sell out of some origins and wait for better qualities to flow again.
Uganda, Nicaragua, Peru MCM, Mexico Specialty, India MSNEB, El Salvador and Sulawesi have either run out or are about to finish very soon.
Most of the Organics remain available, as it seems other coffee brands won't pay the extra premium for certified coffees. This leaves us with a good selection and great-tasting offers.
