💰 Our Coffee Sample Policy: Why We Prioritize Low Prices and Quality Control

We understand and appreciate that coffee provides immense flavor possibilities, and you want assurance before purchasing in bulk.

However, we maintain a strict policy: We Do NOT provide free coffee samples—regardless of the quantity promised.

We respectfully ask that you accept this policy, which is rooted in our commitment to delivering premium coffee at the most competitive price in Australia.

Recommended Alternative: If you wish to try different coffee origins or blends, we strongly recommend purchasing our 500g packs. This is the most cost-effective and accurate way to sample our range (excludes Organic coffees).

The Financial Imperative: Maintaining Competitive Pricing

Operating on razor-thin margins means we cannot sustain the cost of handing out samples. The reality is that if we were to provide samples, we would need to add approximately $3 per kilo to the price of all coffee sold.

Considering that many of our competitors charge $60+ a kilo, adding this cost would ultimately render our premium coffee beans uncompetitive in online shopping, where price is the primary comparison tool.

The Four Operational Reasons We Cannot Offer Free Samples

Our policy is based on clear financial and quality control hurdles:

1. Disproportionate Freight Costs

Freight charges in Australia have a high base cost per item, regardless of weight. In many cases, sending a small 200g package costs almost the same as sending 1kg. This means sending out a single sample can cost us up to $15—a cost that is simply not effective or realistic to absorb.

2. The Economics of Small Packaging & Labor

Smaller packaging sizes are disproportionately expensive. A 100g or 200g coffee bag is nearly the same price as a 500g bag. Furthermore, the high labor effort involved in packing, labeling, sealing, and handling small items means a small pack costs significantly more to process than a larger pack.

3. Taste Variability and Brewing Risk

Every person's perception of "nice coffee" is vastly different. Even the best premium coffee can be ruined during preparation, as taste is highly dependent on:

  • The equipment used (automatic machine vs. espresso machine).

  • Grinder adjustment and dosing accuracy.

  • Tamping, extraction, or brewing time.

We cannot guarantee you will immediately love our coffee, particularly if the preparation is inconsistent.

4. Quality Assurance Through Expertise

Instead of relying on random customer samples, we invest heavily in expert quality control. Our master roaster performs exhaustive cupping (tasting over 120 coffees per week) and rigorous testing on control batch samples.

We do this to ensure that the coffee we send out to you meets or exceeds the standards for specialty coffee available in Australia. Our in-house testing—not a free sample—is our assurance of continuous, reliable quality.

We encourage you to purchase a 500g pack (excludes Organic) to experience our quality. By doing so, you support our ability to keep our everyday prices low for everyone.
