Sumatra Natural "Filter Roast" – Exclusive Micro-Lot (Light Roast)
A Global Exclusive: Rare Natural Processed Sumatra
We are proud to present a coffee you quite literally cannot find anywhere else in the world. We secured the entire farm's output of this rare, exotic Natural Processed Sumatra. Unlike traditional Sumatran coffees known for earthy, heavy profiles, this unique lot is a fruit-forward masterpiece.
Flavor Profile: Juicy, Sweet, and Complex Roasted specifically on our specialized Filter Roast platform, this coffee is crafted to showcase the bean's inherent sweetness rather than roast depth.
-
Tasting Notes: Brown sugar, ripe strawberry, and plum.
-
Finish: A delicate, lingering element of chocolate.
-
Acidity: Vibrant and juicy.
Roasting Methodology Leveraging over 20 years of experience, we roast this lot in a cast-iron drum system. We stop the roast at a "light" level (filter style) to preserve the delicate fruit acids and sugars. This precision ensures maximum flavor clarity, making it perfect for those who appreciate the nuances of a high-grade specialty coffee.
Best Brewing Applications This Sumatra Natural is highly versatile for modern, alternative brewing methods. It shines when brewed black to allow the high-quality acidity to perform.
-
Pour Over: V60, Kalita Wave, Chemex
-
Immersion: Aeropress, Syphon, French Press
-
Batch Brew: Moccamaster
-
Cold Brew: Cold Drip (highlights the strawberry notes)
⚠️ Roaster's Note: Is this coffee right for you?
Understanding "Filter Style" vs. Espresso
This is a Light Roast. It is significantly lighter in color and body than our traditional espresso or medium roasts.
-
For Black Coffee Drinkers: If you drink black filter coffee, this is the pinnacle of flavor clarity.
-
For Milk Drinkers: We do not recommend this roast for milky coffees (Lattes, Cappuccinos). The high acidity natural to light roasts can "split" or curdle dairy and dairy alternatives, and the light body may get lost in the milk.

Why our coffees are different
Our custom SUPA-ROASTA is a one-of-a-kind, fully cast-iron platform using the most advanced computer controls for ultra-precise roasting of the best-tasting coffees.
These days, complete cast-iron roasting systems are extremely rare. Only cast-iron platforms can impart that highly desirable soft, moist heat into the coffee beans.
Would the best chefs and BBQ experts cook their culinary delights on Stainless, Alloy or Mild Steel or Air ?
Nope, neither would we.
mycuppa's SUPA-ROASTA creates coffees with smooth, rich, high-flavoured tastes, full and syrupy body, fine acidity and of course our trademark long, sweet finish.
Nothing compares.
how we roast your coffee
Roasting coffee is a precise science. These days, computer profiles perform most of the automated tasks for controlling a roast profile. However, through better quality control via tasting, testing and optimization, we can make a big difference to the finished product through setting special parameters.

Ground coffee is poor value
Whole beans are the only way to enjoy freshly roasted coffee.
The moment coffee beans are ground, most of the essential, active compounds in ground coffee oxidize rapidly, losing vitality, aroma, flavour and body.
Ground coffee barely lasts 15 minutes; even sealed packs lose more than 80% of the critical essence in 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, once you open and close that pack, it's game over, and the ground coffee continues to stale at 20x the rate of whole beans inside of a sealed, unopened pack.
If you love coffee, please don't waste money buying pre-ground packs; you only get a small part of the wonderful coffee experience.
Buy a decent grinder and purchase whole beans; it makes a huge difference in aroma, flavour, and enjoyment.
