Ethiopia Filter-Roast Coffee Beans
Our Ethiopia Filter roast is from the famous Sidamo Chire region.
We have selected a delicious washed lot, prepared on our specialized filter roast platform using a precise roast profile.
This Ethiopia Filter Roast displays an amazing toffe flavor with sweet lemon-lime and a buttery finish.
Suitable for all types of alternative brew methods and applications that require a lighter roast depth.
As a lighter roasted bean, it could be more suited to milk-based espresso (or dairy alternatives used in espresso) beverages.
The body and finish of lighter-roasted coffees may be less deep or rich than those of traditional medium or espresso roasts.
Lighter roasted coffees, generally called "filter style," are not as "soluble" when used for espresso brewing.
A lighter roasted coffee is more challenging to use in espresso situations.
However, if you own a high-quality grinder and espresso machine and have the skills to "dial in" an accurate grind and dose, espresso enthusiasts will be rewarded with the sweetest and most glorious extractions.
With deep roasting experience, we carefully prepare this filter-style coffee to reduce your effort in "chasing that god shot".
We have developed our filter-style roasts significantly to help reduce the usual frustrations many people experience with espresso extractions.
The results are exceptional.
Our Filter Roast is ideal for customers using contemporary or alternative brewing styles, such as Aeropress, Syphon, Moccamaster, Pour Over (such as a V60), or Cold Drip.
Why "Filter roast" is different from typical espresso roast
When roasting coffee for filter style, the profile is gentle, particularly in the "drying" phase in the early stage of the roast.
The middle section of the roast is similar to a medium or espresso roast, particularly mallard.
However, things take a different turn around 1st crack, and we prepare to exit the roast by carefully managing the heat and finish temperature.
Filter-style roasts are lighter in shade (colour) and will not have the same body as a medium or espresso roast.
In milk, a filter-style roast may lack flavour and finish. Acid levels are significantly higher, and some dairy alternatives may "react" adversely to these higher acids in the lighter roasted coffees.
If you add milk to your coffee, please consider one of our medium-roasted coffees, as they will perform better with dairy or dairy alternatives. You can see more of our Ethiopian coffee beans here.

Why our coffees are different
Our custom SUPA-ROASTA is a one-of-a-kind, fully cast-iron platform using the most advanced computer controls for ultra-precise roasting of the best-tasting coffees.
These days, complete cast-iron roasting systems are extremely rare. Only cast-iron platforms can impart that highly desirable soft, moist heat into the coffee beans.
Would the best chefs and BBQ experts cook their culinary delights on Stainless, Alloy or Mild Steel or Air ?
Nope, neither would we.
mycuppa's SUPA-ROASTA creates coffees with smooth, rich, high-flavoured tastes, full and syrupy body, fine acidity and of course our trademark long, sweet finish.
Nothing compares.
how we roast your coffee
Roasting coffee is a precise science. These days, computer profiles perform most of the automated tasks for controlling a roast profile. However, through better quality control via tasting, testing and optimization, we can make a big difference to the finished product through setting special parameters.

Ground coffee is poor value
Whole beans are the only way to enjoy freshly roasted coffee.
The moment coffee beans are ground, most of the essential, active compounds in ground coffee oxidize rapidly, losing vitality, aroma, flavour and body.
Ground coffee barely lasts 15 minutes; even sealed packs lose more than 80% of the critical essence in 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, once you open and close that pack, it's game over, and the ground coffee continues to stale at 20x the rate of whole beans inside of a sealed, unopened pack.
If you love coffee, please don't waste money buying pre-ground packs; you only get a small part of the wonderful coffee experience.
Buy a decent grinder and purchase whole beans; it makes a huge difference in aroma, flavour, and enjoyment.
