Buy 1kg of 100% Arabica Tanzania Valhalla Estate.
Like all African coffees that are hard and dense, it requires a medium roast that's on the closer edge of a darker depth (still medium, we don't do dark as it utterly destroys all that is great and wonderful in a coffee) to bring out the best of it's characteristics.
All coffee is WHOLE BEANS by default in our store, but you can order ground coffee.
If you require the coffee to be ground, please select your desired brew type in the Option to Grind before adding the item to your shopping cart and it will be ground, sealed and sent as super-fresh - we do not hold or store pre-ground coffee and all grinding is performed using fresh roasted whole beans an hour before the parcel is sent.
African coffees tend to have a strong, powerful and intensely-flavored characteristic with brilliant acidity, winey, berry, dark cocoa syrup finishes and this Tanzanian is a classic example.
Tanzanian coffee is similar to quality Kenyan, but with a more balanced flavor profile.
We think this makes Tanzanian coffee ideal for any slow-brewing method such as plunger, drip, stovetop/moka/cafetera, etc.
Tanzania, due to it's proximity to Kenya, produces a similar style and profile of coffee.
Kenyan and quality single origin Tanzania coffees are in high demand around the world - they produce outstanding results in the cup.
Infrastructure around Tanzania is not as well developed as Kenya, meaning some of the greens from Tanzania can be affected (tainted) from being held in hot containers (steamed) for extended periods.
This process can mute the character of the coffee and reduce it's overall quality by the time it arrives to the roaster. Obviously, we test samples and reject anything that is not specialty grade.
As enthusiasts of Tanzania coffees, in 2011, we took a huge risk by entering our Tanzania TEC Estate AA - but it paid off with a Silver Medal in the Golden Bean December 2011.
From Valhalla Estate we have found a unique wet-processed coffee bean coming from the coffee oasis of the Arusha district.
This shade-grown varietal produces an exceptional cup of distinct African characteristics being very bright and very aggressive in flavour.
Similar to a good Kenyan, but the bold sweet berry fruits set this Tanzanian apart.

Wow, what a cracker. The Valhalla Estate coffee from Tanzania has Mike Tyson knockout power.
For those that need it black, be warned it's a kicker (without any bitterness) as the sharp acidity will take some adjustment.
In milk it's a highly memorable cup that will have you heading back to the coffee machine for a second dose within the hour.

15 June 2019Very thick and heavy creama, delicious with flavors lingering afterwards. Awesome as a flat white, to cut it further makes for a great cafe Latte. This coffee wants you to have another. Will be buying this one again, most definitely. Thanks MyCuppa :)
