Our limited edition, premium estate, single origin Honduran Microlot 87.
The latest lot arrived in our warehouse early May 2017 and it's a superb coffee. We commenced roasting it from the 18th May 2017 onwards and expect this lot to run till around Xmas.
It's remarkably different to the previous lots we had selected as we were looking for a key point of difference in our bean portfolio.
Last season's lots displayed some elements of African wild fruit and dark chocolate notes.
This season, the flavours are intense, the acid refined and the balance is just sublime.
Being a honey processed coffee, it's undergone a precisely controlled ferment that enhances the sweetness and acids. Whilst it's bright in acids, it's not out of control and we would refer to these acids as refined - pleasant, sweet, crisp and refreshing.
I know there are a lot of people out there that run a mile at the first hint of acid.......but........stay with me folks because acids in coffee are always present and when they are this good, the mandarin and orange acidity with chocolate finish it's just mesmerising.
Honduras is a star on the rise, now the # 1 producer in Central America by volume, it is also the fastest growing specialty grade supplier in the world.

This lot scored 87.5 on the table, perhaps higher in different circumstances.

The silky smooth, buttery body lingers for hours.

Honduras is fast becoming the new coffee power house of Central America.
With ongoing issues in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico, Honduras is constantly improving cup quality, consistency and output volumes each season.
Once known as the poor-man's blender, Honduras coffees are being using in world barista, roasting and cup tasting championships with exceptional results.
The overall quality rank of Honduran coffees has lifted by at least 20% in the last 5 years. These coffees are becoming so good, that many of the world's top roasters are now lining up to take the forward and future harvests from some of the most highly regarded Honduran estates.
This micro lot is outstanding quality. The preparation of the coffee is first-rate and the cup is beautifully rounded and balanced.
Going out on a limb here, tending to think this is our best coffee at the moment.
Honduras treat A110 January 2017What a pleasant delight. I prepare my coffee by pour-over, Syphon and occasionally French press. This Micro Lot batch is wonderful for this style of prep. After trying the Ethiopian filter roast, I wanted a rounder flavour with notes that were more subtle, that revealed themselves throughout the drinking and pleasantly lingered on the palet. The Honduras #85 came up trumps. I've been preparing and drinking, freshly roasted coffee for over 30 years and found this batch wonderfully delicious. Thanks.
Honduran Delight!!4 August 2016With trepidation I ordered 1kg of Honduras Microlot beans mid-July. They arrived within a couple of days as usual & I was dying to try them. Had to wait a day as I had some Suuweet beans in the hopper. Wow!! Our first short blacks were so sensational we had another round ten minutes later. We've been asked by everyone who's popped in & had a coffee since, where did we get the beans? There is a subtle chocolatey & fruity flavour to the coffee with a beautiful soft aftertaste - no bitterness at all. For our taste it's perfect for short or long blacks. However for those who still like a strong coffee taste in their milk coffee, these beans may be a little subtle. Am about to order another kilo as stock is very low. Thanks for introducing us to a new coffee bean from a very promising area.
