SHG stands for strictly high grown coffee beans.
Good single origin Nicaraguan coffees make excellent espresso due to the complete well-rounded flavour profile they often have.
Nicaraguan coffee beans are one of our favourite central American coffees to roast and of course to drink as well.
We particularly like the superb character in this EP strictly high grown (SHG) coffee such as the Diamond Microlot we have in store at the moment.
Unlike other SHG coffees, this Nicaraguan does not develop the sharp acidity found in many centrals.
This makes it one of our favourite single origin coffees and is in our opinion highly under-rated.
Our current lot is the quality Diamond - by name and by nature - this is a rock-hard, dense bean that once you have dialled in the grinder, it rewards you with a truckload of toffee that coats the inside of your mouth for hours afterwards.

With so much attention on the dwindling crop volumes in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama and the recent problems in Mexico resulting in Guatemalan stocks being taken over the border into Mexico, we are left with just Honduras and Nicaragua to make up the volumes.
Nicaragua has always been known to produce that "classic" coffee flavor profile - rich and rewarding without straying too far from the centre.
We have always relied upon Nicaraguan coffees to deliver a clean, reliable cup and in this regard they have earned a "trusted" status in our portfolio.
