We roast and sell a lot of Decaf every day - in fact the ratio of Decaf we roast compared to most other coffee companies in Australia is around 5x 10x higher.
It's fresh, super-fresh and that's also super-important when it comes to Decaf coffees as they don't "last" as long as normal coffees, e.g. they don't hold their vibrancy the same way.
We literally can't keep up - s roasted every day of the week, not once a week or once a fortnight like other coffee suppliers.
For the last 12 years, we have traditionally used Swiss Water Decaf and this has limited our offering to customers around the best in the Swiss Water range - Colombia.
If you eat or drink the same thing over and over, it gets kind of boring, so why not offer another Decaf ?
This is our Mountain Water Mexico arabica Decaf - chemical free, just like Swiss Water, but a different process - same great taste and super fresh roasted.
What your are buying here is 1x 500g of 100% Arabica certified Mountain Water Mexico Decaf, whole bean medium roasted coffee - excellent for Espresso style, plunger, stovetop and even filter coffees.
Caffiene is extracted using Mountain Water's patented process, retaining all critical the flavours of coffee.
A rich, small, creamy coffee with amazing sweetness, texture, balanced acidity and a long toffee and chocolate finish.
Important features to be aware of with roasted Decaf coffees:
Decaf coffees can appear significantly darker in the green bean state when compared to traditional coffee beans. That means, we are starting from a much darker shade for the raw coffee - the result is a darker shade in the physical roasted product and it will develop a light sheen of oil on the surface of the bean.
Don't worry or be alarmed, it's not over-roasted.
Once roasted, Decaf coffees appear very dark (almost black) and will emit a sheen of oil as early as 1-3 days after roasting - it's just a normal, natural cycle of roasted Decaf due to the process that removes the caffeine.
Most coffee roasters struggle to roast decaf as they don't do it very often as it's a raw bean that is darker with radically different moisture and density compared to traditional raw coffees.
For this reason. most roasting companies end up over-roasting their decaf making it bitter and ashy because they do it the same way that non-Decaf coffees are roasted - which is so very wrong !.
Our roasting equipment has finer control of air and temperature enabling us to produce a wonderfully soft heat that really suits the decaf roasting process.
NOTE: we reserve the right to change our coffee bag packaging without notice. Coffees are fresh roasted daily and shipped that afternoon (or next day if we have run out of fresh roasted coffee beans). At times throughout the year, we may experience a shortage for our custom manufactured coffee bags (the bags shown in the picture), These high quality coffee bags are specially manufactured for us and sometimes there are delays in the supplier shipping to us. This does not affect the quality of the coffee beans.
Having run with the trusted The Swiss Water Decaf product for more than 12 years, we thought it was time to offer up another nice Decaf to give our customers a chance to try something different - you simply can't keep drinking the same stuff day after day.
Mountain Water is the other big chemical free process, along with Swiss Water - they course excellent grade coffees to undergo the procedure without the use of chemicals.
The lot we have selected is a lovely Mexican - delicious, balanced, rich and creamy - we think it's really special.
Please kindly note, roasted Decaf beans will turn oily very quickly - sometimes just a few days. If they are exposed to higher ambient temperatures in transit of storage they will oil up faster.
The oil is nothing to worry about and will not detract from the performance of the coffee.
I always suggest to customers to use decaf within a reasonably short timeframe as it does not seem to age with the same durability as non-decaf coffees.
