Ethiopia Filter-Roast Coffee Beans
This is our natural processed Ethiopian Yirgacheffe - it's a FAIRTRADE Organic lot but we are not offering this coffee through the FAIRTRADE retail system, otherwise you would be paying more.
Lighter roasted bean with intense, powerful floral aromatics, notes of rich apricot, honey and a long swiss chocolate finish.
This coffee is specifically designed for use in a variety of filter/pour-over, hot or cold brew situations, e.g. Aeropress, V60, Kona, etc.
Roasting for filter involves a more gentle profile with a lighter depth as a general rule in the more modern styles.
This coffee delivers a truck load of complex fruits that a both interesting and tasty.
Please be aware that filter style roasts (lighter roasted depth) may not work successfully in traditional, older style brewing applications such as percolators or Drip-o-lators often found in function or event environments.
It's also possible to extract this coffee using espresso equipment, however, you must be aware that filter roasts do not have the body or depths of flavours to suit the addition of milk. It may also require advanced and experienced levels of skills and equipment to "dial in" the optimal settings.
A beautiful, complex, aromatic fruit bomb that has been expertly roasted for filter style.
Ethiopian coffees provide an intensity and complexity rarely found elsewhere in the world of coffee.
This coffee is a lighter roasted premium single origin and it's our Natural Yirgacheffe Filter style offering.
Fruit bombs are a typical description for most Ethiopian coffees and when searching for the best lots, we will rank the fruit high but also consider the overall balance of the cup as equal weighting.
Fruit elements are intensified in natural processed coffees, as is the floral aspect. However, naturals come with high levels of ferment and different acids that can detract from the cup, which is why we also include washed coffees as they are cleaner.
Filter coffee is the best way to enjoy the clarity and original characteristics developed by brewing the coffee.
Filter brewing provides a very clean extraction of the coffee oils and therefore the roasted coffee should also have minimal roast taints.
Our Ethiopians will deliver a beautiful flavor having delicate acid balance without excessive citric or malic astringency.
