About Timor coffees

There is something magical about Timor coffee.

It is one of the few coffee-growing origins with a unique varietal - a hybrid between robusta and Arabica.

Given Timor's relatively low rainfall levels, it's a cultivar far more tolerant to disease and drought.

The Timor varietal has also been planted in other countries and used as the parent donor to other popular varietals.

Introduced by the Portuguese in the 1860s, coffee rapidly became one of the most important exports for Timor.

Coffee farming significantly declined after Indonesia took control in the mid-1970s.

The coffee industry of Timor has made significant progress since its independence in 2002. This growth has been facilitated through the support of International Development agencies, resulting in a rapid industry rebuild.

We are happy to see Timor now being a reliable contributor to global coffee supply.

An interesting fact about Timor coffee - it's almost entirely organic as pesticides and fertilizers had never been introduced to the country.

Grown in the Maubisse region - regarded as having an excellent reputation for quality.
