what is a coffee subscription ?
With our coffee subscription service, you can order our curated collection of rare and distinctive coffees - exclusive to subscription members only:-
- 2x different 500g packs sent in a single delivery once per month,
- All rare, exotic and unique premium grade micro-lots, personally hand-picked by our award winning master roaster.
- Price includes shipping Australia-wide.
Customers love our coffee subscription as it allows them to enjoy a wide variety of the finest quality specialty grade coffees arriving into Australia.
Please kindly note - our subscription service does not perform recurring billing, so you must decide for how many months you wish to participate in our subscription program and purchase the corresponding quantity, e.g. 4 = four(4) months of deliveries.
Over a 12 month period, you can savour 24 different premium coffees that would not typically be available in a retail environment. In other words, it's unlikely you would find these subscription coffees in any retail shop or even any other coffee company.
The coffees we offer for subscriptions are not from the generally available products within our mycuppa store.
These subscription coffees are small quantity lots, sometimes just a couple of hundred kilos.
Our philosophy with subscription coffees was very simple - hunt for the absolute best to share and reward our loyal group of coffee enthusiasts - mycuppa subscription customers.
The coffees are personally selected by our award winning master roaster with over 35 years of experience.
The process involves a weekly review of new and interesting coffees arriving into Australia from the importing brokers.
We look at the top 5 and rigorously evaluate to identify the best of the best.
how do I order a subscription
The first step is to identify your average consumption rates for coffee and it's also just as important to determine if your typical ordering patterns fit within the subscription schedules, e.g. if your consumption of coffee is highly variable, then subscription may not be the best option for your lifestyle.
Please be aware upfront - subscriptions are a time-based, scheduled offering - it does not come from our everyday product stock.
However, we do offer great flexibility such as pausing or accelerating the delivery periods to suit customer preferences, but agan we ask you to please ensure you realize/understand that subscription coffees are not a "stocked" item, e.g. not from a shelf. If you are in any doubt, please reach out and contact us for more information.
As subscriptions are roasted in special runs every fortnight, if you need coffee sent now or immediately after placing your order - please consider purchasing from our other many fine coffees roasted every day that are available in our store for same day dispatch.
For our general available coffees in our store, we roast more than 20 different coffees every day, 6 days per week - it's always fresh.
Subscription coffees are small-batch specialty runs that are not stocked.
The QUANTITY you enter defines how many MONTHS you wish the subscription to run.
Subscription is not a recurring billing product, therefore, if you select Quantity = 1, you are purchasing just one(1) month of coffee subscription and once it's sent, it does not automatically renew.
If you order quantity = 4, then you have four(4) months of coffee subscription and will receive one(1) delivery each calendar month of 2x500g packs. That's 8 different 500g packs of coffee.
Why is each delivery 2x500g packs ?
Our objective is to create a value-based offering for the coffee enthusiast, providing access to coffees that would otherwise not be possible.
This value equation can only be achieved when the minimum quantity is 2x 500g packs per shipment/delivery.
Most households with 2 or more coffee drinkers will consume around 1kg of coffee per month.
Of course, this depends upon other factors like visitors, being away, weather, etc. This monthly cycle is also about the approximate duration fresh roasted coffee remains within it's optimal usage window.
When will my coffee arrive
We place our subscription customers into one of two groups depending upon when your order was received:-
Run 1 - the 1st Wed/Thu of each month
Run 2 - the 3rd Wed/Thu of each month
Upcoming dates for December 2017:-
Run 1 - 30th Nov and 1st Dec 2017
Run 2 - 14th and 15th Dec 2017
The reason we have these two groups (Runs) is so that if your order is recieved after Run 1 then you don't have to wait another month for the next Run.
IMPORTANT NOTE:- Subscription coffees are roasted only on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday/Thursday of each month. This means that a Wednesday or Thursday can either be the 1st or the 6th of the Month.
The coffees are roasted on the morning of dispatch, so it arrives to you as the freshest possible.
Our roastery is in Melbourne, so the transit times are as per Australia Post regular parcel service and this varies based upon your distance from Melbourne.
All orders are sent in brand new cartons with full track & trace facility. By default AusPost are using a Safe Drop method or you have the option to request Authority to Leave (ATL) during the checkout process.
Subscriptions are ONLY roasted twice per month - the 1st and 3rd Wednesday or Thursday of the month.
If you place an order in the period between the scheduled roasting dates, your order will be automatically included in the next schedule.
Why our subscription coffees are the market leader !
These days it seems every coffee company has jumped on the subscription bandwagon - even when they spend 99% of their time looking after cafes or wholesale customers.
The Australian coffee industry is now well and truly saturated with more than 1100 brands being sold and it's becoming confusing for customers to pick a company to trust.
More than 65% of these brands are new startups lacking the skills, experience, consistency, systems, processes and quality compared to a truly specialized provider like mycuppa.
Some of these new startups are operating from their home or garage and many don't even use all the required coffee processing infrastructure such as destoners - risking damage to your own equipment.
We have been running online coffee services and subscriptions since 2007 - it's not easy and it involves a lot of administration to provide flexibility for our customers.
mycuppa is currently Australia's largest online suppliers of premium coffees and we service more than 15,000 customers around Australia.
This is what we do every single day, 7 days a week......we don't do cafes or wholesale and we don't do online operations as a part-time interest like many other coffee companies.
Every customer is important to us - regardless of size. Our typical customer is the coffee obsessed addict or the consumer with an appreciation of coffee quality.
Our success in a competitive market is from a simple strategy to offer quality and value - we offer more in quality for less in $$.
Some coffee companies run their subscription service to clear excess or distressed inventory.
For us at mycuppa, it's an important opportunity to delight our customers by showcasing the best damn coffees we can source.
We offer subscriptions as a means for coffee enthusiasts to access to streams of high-grade, super-quality seasonal micro lot coffees that would otherwise not be possible.
Identifying the best coffees at any time
At different times of the year, certain coffees will out-perform others.
The biggest challenge for us is the difficulty in getting a clear message about what are the "best coffees right now" to our large customer base.
The Subscription service helps us achieve the goal of matching our best coffees at a moment in time..
This is similar in concept to our Roaster's Choice product that showcases exceptional coffees.
For the Subscription Service our master roaster will select the best candidate coffees for your periodic order.
You can be assured all selected coffees will be of premium quality.
Recent Changes to the Subscription Service (March 2017)
As at the end of Feb 2017, we are removing the fortnightly option from subscription to simplify the management of the service as a monthly entitlement.
We will continue to roast the subscription coffees on a fortnightly schedule as customers purchase new subscriptions periodically throughout the month, therefore we will run the roasting as per normal around the 1st and 3rd Wednesday or Thursday of each month.
The price of the subscription service has been adjusted to account for higher averaged Australia-wide shipping costs.
