We are thrilled to introduce a stunning new addition to our Direct Trade program: a high-quality Arabica sourced from the prestigious Mt Hagen region in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
For over 60 years, PNG coffee has been the unsung hero of the Australian coffee scene. Often used as the backbone of cafe blends due to its rich body and consistency, we believe it is time to let this origin shine on its own as a single origin filter or espresso roast.
The "Blue Mountain" Lineage
What makes this specific coffee so special? It all comes down to genetics.
These beans are of the Typica varietal, directly descended from the world-famous (and incredibly expensive) Jamaica Blue Mountain seeds brought to PNG in the 1930s. Grown in the fertile volcanic soil of the Western Highlands, this coffee shares the same illustrious DNA as some of the most highly prized beans worldwide.
